Personal Development: Extracurricular Provision

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT: EXTRACURRICULAR PROVISION

As well as Personal Development being a golden thread running through all of the curriculum and our regular school activities (including break and lunchtimes), we also provide a range of extracurricular activities which support and enhance PD among our pupils. These include:

VISITS/RESIDENTIALS

-All KS2 pupils take part in an overnight residential trip to Castleton Youth Hostel, taking part in two days' worth of activities suited to their age and giving them memorable experience of a close, but very different, locality. These Peak District trips grow the children's resilience (for many it is the first time they stay away from home) and allow them to appreciate how close natural beauty is to our doorstep. Many children return with their families having been so inspired by their trips!

-All KS1 pupils stay after school one night in Autumn/Winter for a campfire night at school in our woodland area. These nights include torchlit treasure hunts and hot chocolate around the fire, providing wonderful memories and a chance to develop teamwork skills.

-All EYFS pupils undertake visits to local parks and the Sea Life Centre in Trafford, going in small groups so as to encourage language development, build confidence and gain valuable experiences in our city.

-In KS1 and KS2, children visit our local library which is just down Stockport Road.

-We undertake trips in the Summer Term which give the children valuable memories and experiences as they near the end of their academic year.

-Trips relating to the curriculum take place throughout the year in all year groups.

-We are also delighted to provide a range of bought-in experiences at school. These include a Zoo Lab, Christmas Pantomimes, visits every few years from the Zulu dancers, Fire Brigade and Police visits and visits from important local people, including Manchester's Lord Mayor and the Bishop of Manchester.
